Mastering for Linda Diaz, The Winner Of The 2020 NPR Tiny Desk Contest

I have recently had the great honor of mastering native New Yorker Linda Diaz's music.  NPR's Ari Shapiro has described her music as "dreamy R&B" - which in my opinion is a perfect description!  I first heard Linda's song "Green Tea Ice Cream" when mastering her "Magic" EP this past fall.  All six songs on the EP are really beautiful and fun, but "Green Tea Ice Cream" was a clear stand out for me, then and now - as I have become a huge fan of her music.

And so I was not surprised this past February when she and her band submitted a performance of Green Tea Ice Cream for the 2020 NPR Tiny Desk Contest.  There are tons of bands that write wonderful songs that submit to NPR's acclaimed contest every single year, but this submission just felt different!  We were in the middle of an international Covid-19 pandemic - and there were not many things to feel very hopeful about.  So when I found out that Linda Diaz WON the 2020 NPR Tiny Desk Contest this year, I felt a strong sense of hope and happiness!  Winning NPR Tiny Desk Contest has the potential to launch an independent artist into the stratosphere with all of the publicity it can bring - and I am so happy for Linda and her team!  Give it a listen here for yourself...
